The Browning Machine Gun, Vol 1, By Dolf L Goldsmith.

Volume 1 of this 4 volume (so far) series on the Browning Machine Gun is sub titled 'Rifle Calibre Brownings in US Service'. The books 19 chapters cover the developement, production and service use of the rifle calibre Browning MG from the earliest 'gas hammer' models through the recoil operated Model 1917 and all subsequent developements up until its demise from US service. In addition to the Infantry models the book also contains several chapters on both the aircraft Brownings and the tank gun versions. A substantial book to say the least, as with Dolf's other books ('The Devils Paintbrush' on the Maxim Machine Guns and the renowned book on the Vickers 'The Grand Old Lady of No-Mans Land') this certainly gives a lot of 'bang for your buck'! Highly readable and superbly illustrated, this book comes highly recommended. Hard back with dust jacket. Size 230 x 286mm, containing 552 pages with 568 illustrations in the form of both black & white photographs and line drawings. ISBN 0-88935 370 0. Stock number BOOKS44.
