Grenade, British & Commonwealth Hand & Rifle Grenades.

Rick Landers, the author of this outstanding publication (with research by Norman Bonney & Gary Oakley) has pulled out all the stops to produce not just a catalogue of grenades, but a highly readable and high quality book.

The book itself contains comprehensive coverage of all British Service issue explosive grenades from the No1 Grenade of 1908 up to the L85A1'bullet trap' rifle grenade of the late 1980's. Also covered are all smoke, signal, anti-tank and incendiary grenades including officially sanctioned 'improvised' grenades. Later in the book are sections on Australian and Canadian service grenades that fall outside of the British service patterns.

This book is much more than a catalogue. Each grenade is illustrated with all its variations, sectioned drawings, notes on development and manufacture and much background information on trials and use in the field. Dates of introduction and obsolescence are given (where known) along with markings, fillings and general notes. Moreover this book is readable, and gives a fine insite into mans ingenuity when designing new ways of killing each other!

294 pages, heavily illustrated with B&W photographs and clear line drawings. Hard back with dust jacket.
