Written and published by John Bailey, 'Mills Grenade Development 1915 to 1918' is the first in his highly readable and authorative series on British hand grenades.

Printed in A4 size and with soft card covers, the book contains 142 pages following the development of the renowned Mills grenades in British service from their initial conception until the end of WW1. From the drawing board and through trials versions, John Bailey faithfully charts the development of the No5, No23 and ultimately the famous No36(M) Grenade, Hand and Rifle, Mk1.

Copiously illustrated throughout with colour and black and white photographs, line drawings and diagrams of the grenades, including rare prototypes, variants, packaging, launchers and accessories, this book goes far beyond the detail given in more well known grenade books. The author has also extensively researched (with credit given to Norman Bonney) the life and story of William Mills (1856 - 1932) the inventor of the 'Mills Bomb'. A fascinating book with detail and depth not found elsewhere on these grenades, I highly recommend it.
